Head and neck cancers, thyroid cancer, salivary gland tumors, melanoma
Clinically, I am interested in studying different organ preservation approaches for treating advanced-stage head and neck cancers. This involves comparing conservation surgical approaches to chemoradiotherapy. I am also interested in studying functional outcomes for patients who require major head and neck reconstruction after tumor ablative surgery. In the lab, I am investigating novel approaches for mandibular reconstruction using bone morphogenetic proteins and the effects of this growth factor on squamous cell carcinoma. Key words: bone morphogenetic protein, tissue engineering, skeletal regeneration, squamous cell carcinoma, bone invasion co-morbidity, functional outcomes research, biologic markers.
