Research Interest

We study the transcriptional control of cell growth and development. Disruption of transcriptional control and development underlies the etiology of many cancers. We are particularly interested in how the cohesin, Polycomb, and Mediator complexes control gene activation by enhancer sequences, and epigenetic silencing of key developmental genes. Cohesin, Polycomb and Mediator control expression of key oncogenes such as c-myc, and changes in the activities in these complexes are involved in oncogenesis.
