The Hazelwood “Tell Your Momma” Breast Health Partnership is a collaboration between Hazelwood School District and Siteman Cancer Center that brings evidence-based breast health education directly to high school students at Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, and Hazelwood West. Since its inception, the program has reached more than 7,500 young women, equipping them with critical information about early detection, modifiable risk factors, and screening resources they can share with their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other loved ones.
My name is Dr. Lannis Hall, Director of Radiation Oncology at Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine. Each year, I have the privilege of leading these assemblies and challenging our students to take what they have learned home to “tell their momma” about the importance of mammograms, to understand warning signs, and to share information about free and low-cost screening options with the loved ones in their lives.
