Getting back to normal

June, 28 2010 – When Alissa Murphy of St. Louis was diagnosed with rectal cancer three years ago, she was worried about her quality of life. How would treatment affect her daily routine? Would she be able to get back to work? Through her participation in a clinical study at the Siteman Cancer Center, Murphy was able to have a minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove her cancer, which got her back on her feet more quickly. Surgery was followed by six months of chemotherapy. Today, she is back to enjoying life again. “I’m just very, very grateful,” she says. “I feel like I have my life back.”
