Life After Treatment
After completing your treatment protocol, you go back to your life, but it has changed. You are a different person than you were before your diagnosis. How do you deal with your new status as a cancer survivor? It may help to look at your cancer as a chronic disease, like diabetes. It will require monitoring, check-ups and vigilance for any sign that it needs more attention.
That’s where your Siteman clinical team comes into play. When you finish treatment, you aren’t out-of-sight, out-of-mind. Your clinical team remains an important support system, a resource for questions that might come up later.
It’s important to make sure you keep your screening appointments, watch your own body for subtle changes and report them promptly.
You may also consider joining a support group.
