Courtney Beers, MPH, joined Siteman Cancer Center as director of research operations October 8, 2018. She oversees Siteman’s research administration team; research resources shared by Washington University scientists at Siteman; and administrative support for Siteman’s more than 400 therapeutic clinical trials, which are studies designed to evaluate the effectiveness of innovative cancer therapies.

Beers’ expertise in research administration is a tremendous asset to Siteman, said Nick Fisher, Siteman’s executive director of research and business administration.

“Courtney brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise,” he said. “She’s the right leader to oversee many programs that affect patients both directly through the administration of clinical trials, and behind the scenes, ensuring that researchers have a number of resources necessary to develop the next generation of cancer therapies.”

Beers also will lead application submissions for research grants given by the National Cancer Institute, the principal federal agency for cancer research.

She worked for Siteman from 2012-2014 as director of research and business administration. Since then, Beers has served as associate director of operations at Washington University School of Medicine’s Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences. She has also served in leadership roles within the School of Medicine’s Human Research Protections Office and the Department of Surgery’s Division of Public Health Sciences.

She received her master’s degree in public health from St. Louis University and her bachelor’s degree in art history from St. Louis University.
