Advance Cancer Research and Essential Programs

Siteman Annual Fund

The Siteman Cancer Center annual fund makes a tremendous impact by combining the gifts of many Siteman supporters to provide resources where they are most needed. This gives Siteman’s physician-researchers the ability to respond quickly to new opportunities and realize the promise of new discoveries. The annual fund helps to sustain and advance Siteman’s mission, including:

  • Caring for thousands of patients in the St. Louis region and beyond
  • Reaching out to the community to promote prevention and early detection
  • Providing services to maintain the mental, social and spiritual well-being of patients and their families
  • Conducting groundbreaking research

CATALYST AWARDS

Gifts to the Siteman Cancer Center Annual Fund support the Catalyst Awards — grants to researchers who have bold but untested ideas with the potential to transform what’s possible in cancer care.

Catalyst Awards provide seed funding for scientists pursuing state-of-the-art strategies to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. These awards, which fuel scientific work in all seven research programs at Siteman, empower investigators — often early in their careers — to take calculated risks and collect pilot data they need to ultimately receive additional funds from other grant organizations. Visionary philanthropists to the Siteman Annual Fund make this preliminary work possible and inspire bold ideas with their trust and dedication.

The Discovery Fund

Research grants alone cannot fully support Siteman Cancer Center’s basic and clinical research or meet all the urgent needs of our educational programs, patient care programs and infrastructure. Recruiting talented researchers, acquiring the latest research equipment and tools, and supporting new research projects are essential to Siteman’s ability to stay at the forefront of new discoveries.

Your support of the Discovery Fund allows Siteman’s physicians and researchers to recruit talented faculty, establish state-of-the-art laboratories, and provide needed resources required for projects to succeed.

Create a Legacy

Many people who would like to make a special gift to the Siteman Cancer Center need to retain current income and may be planning for future expenses. Making a planned gift to Siteman ensures a legacy of support for advances in cancer research and patient care while allowing the donor to receive benefits back and potentially give more than they thought possible.

Planned gifts may be made with cash, appreciated securities or property. Types of planned gifts include gifts made by will, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance and bargain sales. The benefits of these options vary but include the following:

  • Regular income payments for you and/or your spouse or another beneficiary for life
  • Charitable income tax deductions
  • Gift and/or estate tax deductions or reductions
  • Reducing, postponing or relieving capital gains tax

If you would like more information about how to include Siteman in your will or on the other opportunities available through planned giving, please contact:
