Honor recognizes physician or scientist who has contributed to advancing knowledge in blood, marrow transplantation

John F. DiPersio, MD, PhD, the Virginia E. and Sam J. Golman Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the E. Donnall Thomas Prize from the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. Given annually, the E. Donnall Thomas Lecture and Prize recognize an eminent physician or scientist who has contributed meritoriously to advancing knowledge in blood and marrow transplantation.

As part of the honor, DiPersio delivered the E. Donnall Thomas Lecture Feb. 23 in San Antonio at the Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Meetings of the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. DiPersio’s lecture highlighted progress in the fields of transplantation and cellular therapy.

A physician-scientist, he treats patients at Siteman Cancer Center, based at the School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. DiPersio is also director of the Center for Gene and Cellular Immunotherapy, and a professor of pathology & immunology.
