Michael Holtzman, MD

Primary Academic Title

Selma and Herman Seldin Professor of Medicine and Director, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine

Research Interest

We are defining the molecular basis for genetic susceptibility to epithelial metaplasia. Our current model focuses on induction of chronic airway epithelial hyperplasia and metaplasia inducible by viral infection as well as structure-function of the E1A oncoprotein. Key words: Apoptosis, epithelial cell hyperplasia, respiratory virus, mucosal immunity, EGF receptor, interferon signal transduction, airway diseases.
