Research Interest

My lab investigates the intricate molecular mechanisms by which microbiota influence the gut complement system and stromal cell function, shaping immune responses in the context of cancer. We aim to uncover how interactions among microbiota, stromal cells, and the immune system contribute to cancer development and response to immunotherapy. By understanding these fundamental processes, we seek to develop novel therapeutic strategies targeting the gut complement system, stromal cells, and microbiota. To achieve this, we utilize advanced techniques such as single-cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics, metagenomics, and mouse/bacterial genetics. These approaches enable us to analyze highly controlled gnotobiotic model systems and human samples, providing critical insights into host-microbe interactions in cancer. As a member of the Siteman Cancer Center, I look forward to engaging with physicians and scientists in the community, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and participating in SCC research programs. Additionally, I am committed to mentoring trainees and contributing to the center's mission through education and translational research.
