Definition of lomustine

lomustine (loh-MUS-teen): A drug used to treat brain tumors that have already been treated with surgery or radiation therapy and Hodgkin lymphoma that got worse after treatment with other anticancer drugs. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Lomustine damages the cell's DNA and may kill cancer cells. It is a type of alkylating agent and a type of nitrosourea. Also called CCNU and Gleostine.
