(pral-SEH-tih-nib)
A drug used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer that has a RET fusion gene and adults and children aged 12 years and older with certain types of thyroid cancer, including medullary thyroid cancer, that have a RET fusion gene or a mutation (change) in the RET gene. It is used in patients whose cancer is advanced or has spread to other parts of the body. It is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. Pralsetinib blocks certain proteins made by the RET fusion gene or the mutated RET gene, which may help keep cancer cells from growing. It is a type of tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Also called Gavreto.
