Jeff Michalski, MD, the Carlos Perez Distinguished Professor of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a radiation oncologist at Siteman Cancer Center, has been elected radiation oncology co-chair of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Genitourinary Cancers Steering Committee. He will serve through July 2019.

The committee, which focuses on prostate, bladder and renal cancers, is one of 12 disease-specific committees that evaluate and prioritize clinical trials conducted through the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN). Washington University and Siteman Cancer Center together make up one of the network’s 30 leading institutions. Such institutions are chosen for their ability to enroll high numbers of patients in NCTN trials and for their scientific leadership in the design and conduct of clinical trials.

Michalski will work with the Genitourinary Cancers Steering Committee to promote the best clinical and translational research for patients with such cancers by critically reviewing phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trial concepts.
