Siteman Kids nurse practitioner named to state nursing board

Taryn Sandheinrich, a nurse practitioner in the hematology/oncology unit at Siteman Kids at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital, has been appointed to the Missouri State Board of Nursing for a term ending in 2020.

Gov. Jay Nixon named Sandheinrich to the nine-member board, which is charged with protecting the public’s health and safety through the regulation of nursing education, licensure and practice. Among other duties, board members discipline nurses who violate the state Nursing Practice Act and determine the scope of practice for licensed individuals.

Sandheinrich is a registered nurse and a family nurse practitioner. She is certified in pediatric hematology and oncology, bone marrow transplant and pediatric advanced life support. She has master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from the University of Missouri–St. Louis and Saint Louis University, respectively.
