Siteman Podcast Highlights Clinical Trials

|

When monitoring Byron after his prostate cancer surgery, doctors noted his rising PSA levels and recommended that he participate in a clinical trial. After asking many questions and learning more, Byron and his wife were confident the clinical trial was a good next step. In a new episode of the Siteman podcast, “This is Cancer,” Byron shares his experience as a participant in the six-month trial, offering a first-hand account for others making similar decisions.

Joining Byron is his physician Washington University radiation oncologist Lannis Hall, MD, director of Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Research and vice chair of the Clinical Research Committee at Siteman and an associate professor of clinical radiation oncology at the School of Medicine.

From upsides to side effects, Byron and Hall share his story to illustrate why access to clinical trials benefits patients and how the research each trial establishes changes our understanding of the disease and drives treatment advances.
