Primary Academic Title

Professor, Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, St. Louis University School of Medicine

Research Interest

I study hepatitis B virus replication and hepatitis C virus genetics. HBV and HCV together cause 75% of primary liver cancer world-wide. My work with HBV ranges from basic biology to drug discovery. We are currently developing novel anti-HBV ribonuclease H inhibitors as early drug candidates. Our work with HCV extends from basic genetics to development of algorithms predictive of response to therapy.
