Siteman Cancer Center at Northwest HealthCare, 1255 Graham Road in Florissant, will feature the latest technology and clinical trials, which evaluate investigational cancer therapies that are not widely available to the public.

Siteman Cancer Center at Northwest HealthCare, located near Interstate 270 and Graham Road in Florissant, will begin seeing patients Nov. 4. The $26.3 million facility will feature state-of-the-art technology, expert care by Washington University physicians and a close affiliation with Christian Hospital, which owns and operates Northwest HealthCare.

Based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Siteman is the region’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, a federal recognition of its scientific leadership and cancer research. Siteman also is the area’s only cancer center ranked by U.S. News & World Report.

“With this new facility, our commitment to being a lasting and contributing partner to Christian Hospital and the north county community grows even stronger,” said Timothy J. Eberlein, MD, Siteman director and the Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Distinguished Professor at the School of Medicine. “Our goal remains a cancer-free future for our region. In the meantime, we will work to alleviate the burden of this disease by providing nationally recognized cancer care to patients in a comfortable and convenient setting.”

Siteman Cancer Center at Northwest HealthCare will include a family lounge with a fireplace.

Siteman has been operating at Christian Hospital on an interim basis since 2017. The new facility at Northwest HealthCare, 1255 Graham Road, is six miles west of Christian. It is Siteman’s sixth site.

“Christian Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center have built a strong partnership founded on providing patients the very best care,” said Rick Stevens, who as president of Christian Hospital also oversees Northwest HealthCare. “We are pleased to continue offering that same level of exceptional care in a completely new facility.”

The new location also will include a healing garden , diagnostic laboratory and pharmacy.

Medical oncologist Timothy Rearden, MD, will continue as medical director of Siteman’s north St. Louis County location. Mackenzie Daly, MD, a radiation oncologist, will continue as director of radiation oncology. Both are members of the Washington University faculty.

Multidisciplinary care teams at Siteman include radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and surgeons, as well as dietitians, psychologists, nurses and other health-care providers. Siteman also offers more than 400 clinical trials evaluating investigational cancer therapies that are not widely available to the public.

New technology available at Siteman at Northwest HealthCare will include a:

  • Linear accelerator, a machine that creates high-energy radiation to treat cancer.
  • A computed tomography (CT) scanner, which combines multiple X-ray images so tumors and their positions in the body can be easily seen.

Besides being high-tech, the 37,800-square-foot facility was designed to be soothing and inviting. It will feature paintings by noted local artists Cbabi Bayoc and Jessica Hitchcock, and a healing garden. A community room will be available for use by citizen groups and nonprofit organizations.

Funding for the facility comes from Washington University School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare. BJC owns and operates Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Christian Hospital.

The new facility will provide patients a direct link to proton therapy, bone marrow transplants and other highly specialized forms of treatment administered at Siteman’s main location, which is on the campus of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
