Cancer Care Clinic at Siteman Cancer Center

The Cancer Care Clinic at Siteman Cancer Center is a world-renowned clinic serving the urgent needs of patients with a cancer diagnosis. The clinic’s goal is to provide care specific to oncology patients’ needs at times that are convenient for them. We are trained to serve patients experiencing a negative impact of their cancer or side effects of their cancer treatment. If you are a patient at Siteman, your Washington University Physicians or a member of your care team can schedule an appointment for you at the clinic.  

It is important to know that while the clinic serves urgent needs, it is not an urgent care. In the case of an emergency, call 911, contact your physician and head to the nearest emergency room where you can be seen.  

Patients come to the Cancer Care Clinic at Siteman for a variety of reasons and care. You may have an appointment for an evaluation, infusion and injection, or even to have the care necessary for Siteman clinical studies performed.

The Cancer Care Clinic is located in the heart of Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s campus in St. Louis, within Schoenberg Pavilion on the 4th floor.

Where should I park? 

Where should I park? 

There are many parking options within the WashU Medical School campus. The closest garages to the Cancer Care Clinic are Partview Tower Garage or the Euclid Garage. Ask the clinic team for a discount ticket to use when exiting the garage.

Some patients and caregivers prefer to use valet parking during visits. This service is available weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for an additional cost at the Center for Advanced Medicine.

What should I bring to my visit? 

Whether a patient is coming for an evaluation or their visit is for an infusion or transfusion, they will likely spend a lot of time within the clinic. Come prepared with items that help you feel comfortable. All patients are able to bring one adult as a guest with them for morale support.  

Common items patients bring from home include: 

  • Electronics like laptops, phones, or iPads 
  • Headphones or earbuds to make sure you will not disturb others 
  • Crafts like knitting, embroidery, or coloring books 
  • Books and magazines 
  • Snacks and beverages (if not fasting) 
  • Medications including pain medicine and insulin 
  • Lidocaine cream (apply 30-45 minutes before appointment) 
  • Your ID, insurance card and a payment method  
How do patients check in at the clinic at Siteman?

The receptionist will check you in when you arrive. As part of the check-in process, they will ask you to show your photo ID and insurance card(s) to verify our records and to ensure your treatment for the day is accurate. After check-in, we will record your vital signs and weight, then escort you to the treatment area. Your guest will be allowed to go with you into the treatment area. From there every treatment a patient receive is unique to them. Please let a nurse know if you have questions or need assistance during your visit.  

It is important to know that if your symptoms are or become too complex to be evaluated at the Cancer Care Clinic, the nurse practitioner may decide you need to go to the Emergency Department for further evaluation and testing. The Emergency Department is nearby, and you will be taken there directly.  

What amenities are at or near the Cancer Care Clinic?

We want patients and their guests to feel comfortable during their visit, so we have anticipated some of your needs. The Clinic offers complimentary WiFi, beverages and light snacks. There are vending machines near the Schoenberg Pavilion elevators on the 4th floor. For more options, Parkview Tower (which is one building away) has a cafeteria, Starbucks and family lounge.

Every day: 6:30 am – 2: 30 pm

Every day: 8:30 a.m.- 6 p.m.  

Patients and their families are welcome to use this recreation space to rest, play, connect, and do necessary tasks like showering, cooking and laundry. The space also has a full business center to help get work done.
