There are many local and national organizations designed to specifically support people facing a cancer diagnosis. Below are some of the organizations and institutions Siteman trusts. Each organization has a team devoted to connecting you with the care you need. Resources are listed alphabetically.

A nationwide, community-based volunteer-based health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Learn about making treatment decisions, coping with side effects, handling financial matters, caregiving and living well after cancer.

 

American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program – 1-800-227-2345

The Road to Recovery program provides free transportation for cancer patients wo are traveling for essential medical care related to a cancer diagnosis. Service is dependent on availability of divers in the patient’s area. This service for cancer-related appointments only; it can only be used for transportation to and from an appointment. At least 4 business days’ notice is required to request a ride. You must be able to walk to use this service.

Please contact or call one of our financial representatives if you need help to pay your bill. Depending on your situation, you also may qualify for financial assistance. Financial assistance may include helping you apply for Medicaid, determining your eligibility for free health care services, and determining eligibility for a reduction in the amount you owe for some services.

Provides financial assistance for individuals who have a diagnosis of cancer confirmed by an oncology health care provider, be in active treatment for cancer, and meet eligibility guidelines based on the Federal Poverty Limit.

CancerCare Co-Payment Assistance Foundation (CCAF) helps people afford the cost of co-payments for chemotherapy and targeted treatment drugs. This assistance is free of charge to ensure patient access to care and compliance with prescribed treatments.

Cancer Hope Network is a national non-profit organization that provides free and confidential one-on-one emotional support to cancer patients, their caregivers, and their family members. Cancer Hope Netwok matches cancer patients or family members with trained volunteer cancer survivors who themselves who have undergone and recovered from a similar cancer experience. Services are free.

Cancer support Community provides nutritional supplements, incontinence products, voice prothesis, wigs, compression garments, bath chairs and various other durable medical equipment, ostomy supplies, mastectomy bras, breast prostheses, and other items that are not always covered by insurance.

CAASTLC has a Food Pantry designed to meet the immediate needs of income eligible individuals or families. A household can receive food assistance every 30 days if necessary, for a maximum of 12 times per year

EMT serves organizations all over the Midwest, including school districts, hospitals, medical clinics, adult day centers, nursing homes, dialysis centers, doctor’s offices and more. We also transport individuals and families to and from appointments, or simply when they need a ride.

Food Outreach helps cancer patients with providing services for at least 12 months and giving dietitian assessment and nutritional support.

The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge offers free temporary housing for cancer patients traveling more than 50 miles from their place of residence to Saint Louis for outpatient cancer treatment.

Illinois Rx Buying club in conjunction with Medco Health Solutions offers a discount prescription plan for both generics and brand name drugs. Savings average 20% at over 2,500 pharmacies in Illinois.

 

Komen Treatment Assistance Fund – 877-465-6636

Komen Treatment Assistance Fund offers limited financial assistance for breast cancer patients for transportation to and from treatment; lymphedema care and supplies; oral pain and anti-nausea medication; oral chemotherapy/hormone therapy; child care/elder care; palliative care and home care; and durable medical equipment.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12-week, small-group program designed to help adult cancer survivors become more physically active after cancer diagnosis.

Look Good Feel Better is a free two-hour workshop for women undergoing cancer treatment. This program helps improve the self- image, appearance, and quality of life of patients by teaching beauty techniques to help cope with the temporary appearance-related side effects of cancer treatments.

SNAP (previously called the Food Stamp Program) is a government assistance program to help low-income households pay for food. The amount of SNAP assistance a household receives depends on the household’s size, income and expenses.

Patient Advocate Foundation’s Colorectal Care Line is a patient/provider hotline designed to provide assistance to patients who have been diagnosed with colon cancer and are seeking education and access to care. The Colorectal Care Line also offers financial aid through the Financial Aid Fund for those diagnosed with colon cancer that need financial assistance.

Stupid Cancer is the largest charity that comprehensively addresses cancer in people ages 15-39. It offers a lifeline to the young adult cancer community by connecting them to age-appropriate resources and peers who get it.

The Colon Club raises awareness of colon cancer in young adults. The Colon Club’s goals are to educate as many people as possible, as early as possible, about the risk factors and symptoms of colon cancer, and for people to get screened when it’s appropriate for them.

The Catherine Fund program provides financial aid grants for basic necessities of life to women and men who are in active treatment for breast cancer and struggling financially as a direct result of the diagnosis and treatment. They assist with non-medical expenses for things such as rent, utilities, transportation for treatment, childcare during treatment and food.

Provides short-term financial aid to patients who are in treatment for breast cancer. The aid covers both medical and non-medical related expenses, including health insurance premiums, prescriptions, house or rent payments, care insurance payments, and utility payments.

Triple Step Toward the Cure offers assistance with meal delivery, emergency funds for rent, groceries, and utilities, transportation related to treatment, housekeeping services, childcare, selected co-pay assistance, prosthetics and wigs for women with breast cancer.
